Ukrainian chaplains took part in celebrating the Twenty fifth Anniversary of revival of penitentiary chaplaincy in Poland.


18-22 October 2015, at the Training Center of the Polish Prison Service (in Popovo-Paсele near Warsaw) commemorative event have been held. The delegation of 7 chaplains of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church were invited by the Polish prison chaplaincy:
1) Fr. Constantin Panteley (Patriarchal Curia),
2) Fr. Arsen Panchak (Ivano-Frankivsk Diocese),   ,
3) Fr. Vasyl Slyvockiy (Ivano-Frankivsk Diocese),
4) Fr. Ivan Melnyk (Buchach Diocese).
5) Fr. Eugen Havrylyshyn (Buchach Diocese).
6) Fr. Olexiy Kuibida (Kolomyja-Chernivtsi Diocese),
7) Fr. Vitaliy Kotyk (Ternopil-Zboriv Archdiocese), CSSR

This year, Polish Catholic Prison Chaplaincy is celebrating the Twenty fifth anniversary of revival of prison pastoral care in penitentiary institutions Spiritual retreat for the chaplains is traditional in October. 

Lectures during the retreat have been given by Excellent Bishop of Świdnica Ignacy Dec, Fr. prylat Jan Sikorski, who led Poland's prison pastoral ministry in the first 10 years since the conclusion of a special concordat with the state. The solemn conferences were also attended by Krzysztof Kwiatkowski - Justice Minister, Colonel Jacek Vlodarskyy - General Director of the prisons and many other officials of the Ministry of Justice and the Prison Service.

October 21 was presented pastoral ministry of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, which caused a sincere interest in the Polish chaplaincy.

"These measures are very useful for my experience of a priest in prison, because our Polish colleagues were the same stages of development until the introduction of pastoral care chaplaincy, which we now experience in Ukraine - said Fr. Alex Kuybida, chaplain Kolomyyskoy penal colony - they have served a significant enrichment of mutual contacts and deepen our cooperation on pastoral field.

At the end of stay in Poland Ukrainian prison chaplains commemorated martyrs of Majdanek concentration camp in Lublin.
