Exсellent bishop Vasyliy Semenyuk has blessed the new chapel in women prison of Zbarazh.
On December 5th, 2011at theZbarazh penitentiary colony(№63)has been held the ceremony of Consecration of Chapelof the BlessedVirginMary,which was built in theInterregionalSpecializedTB Hospital functioning in this penal institution. Exсellent bishop Vasyliy Semenyuk has blessed the new chapel. Prison chaplain Fr.OmelyanKolodchakhas organised thetheatrical presentation "Holy Virgin standsbetween us" with participation of women-inmates.
This Chapelwill be used for needs ofwomen prisonerswho arein TB-hospital. A holy place where they canretireandpray. Theeventattended head of the UGCC Office forMinistryin the Penitentiary System of UkraineRev.ConstantinePanteley, priests of the Zbarazh Deanery, Fr.VladimirBoris,chaplain ofthe UOC-KP, Head of the StatePenitentiaryServiceof Ukraine inTernopil region, Major General PaulLosik, head ZbarazhcolonyColonelRetyukAlexander and chief for social-psychological service Lt. Col.LyudmilaLeskiv.
After theceremony ExcellentBishopBasilandallthe priestshoodvisited thehouseholdpremises andgot acquainted with theliving conditionsinside the penalinstitution. In the updateddormitorythey couldsee how were renovatedsleepingrooms, bathrooms,roomsfor personal hygiene, household facilitiesandrooms forstoragefor products.In a separatehouse- a modernbath. There is ahairdresser.
In 2004, pastorRev. OmelyanKolodchak started his ministry for convicts at the institution.Since 2007was opened the chapelof St.Demetriosfor liturgicalcelebrationof chaplains of the UGCCand the UOC-KP. However, the TB-hospitalisseparatedfrom the maininstitution.Solong agothere was aneed forthe dedication ofa specialplacefor prayer for womenunder treatment. Mari's ministrants at the Church ofthe HolyResurrection of Christ in Zbarazh(childrenfrom 13 to15 years)for the pastthree years are helping to chaplainFr.Omelyan in care forwomenin the institution. They granted the figureof the BlessedVirgin forthe chapel.
